If your government says yes, we can too.
Leaving special forces is one of the hardest transitions a soldier can make. The camaraderie, purpose and structure of a unit are difficult to replace, and many veterans find that civilian employers do not understand — or fully value — what they can do. Others are offered security work that is poorly organised, badly paid or, worse, legally questionable.
Garud Commando Force exists to offer something better. We hire former Garud commandos who have completed their service honourably and who are free — under the rules of their own government — to take private and, where relevant, overseas employment. We value your training and experience, we pay fairly, and we never ask you to act outside the law or your obligations.
Every government sets its own post-service rules for former military personnel, which may cover secrecy, overseas employment, approvals and cooling-off periods. You are responsible for knowing and following the rules that apply to you; we are responsible for making sure our assignments never put you in conflict with them. Ex-servicemen in India may also find useful resettlement guidance through the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR).
Eligibility Checklist
What you need before you apply
Please review each requirement carefully. Applications without the required clearances cannot proceed, however strong the candidate's record.
Garud service record
Verifiable service as a Garud commando, with discharge or retirement documentation showing honourable completion of service.
Government clearance
Every no-objection certificate, approval or permission your government requires for private and, where applicable, overseas employment.
Police verification
A current police clearance or character certificate, as required for security work in India and most host countries.
Valid passport
A valid passport for international assignments, with no restrictions on travel.
Medical & fitness
Ability to pass a medical examination and a role-appropriate fitness assessment.
Clean record
No pending criminal, disciplinary or legal proceedings that would affect licensing or client trust.
Secrecy obligations
A firm commitment to honour all secrecy obligations, including India's Official Secrets Act, 1923, where applicable.
Communication skills
Working English or Hindi; additional languages such as Arabic or French are a strong advantage for international roles.
We will never ask for classified information. Do not send operational details, classified documents or anything covered by secrecy obligations. Service verification uses only the unclassified documents issued to you on leaving service.

A unit culture — in civilian life
Many veterans tell us that what they miss most is not the action but the people: teammates who understood without explanation and a shared commitment to getting things right. Who can apply to Garud Commando Force?
Former Garud commandos who left service honourably and who hold every clearance, no-objection certificate and permission required by the government that recruited and trained them for private or overseas employment.
Will I be asked to share classified information?
Never. We do not request, accept or use classified information. You remain personally bound by your government's secrecy and post-service rules, and we design assignments to respect them fully.
Are the roles armed?
Most roles are unarmed. Armed roles exist only where local law permits, with the required local licences, and usually through licensed local partners. You will never be asked to carry a weapon unlawfully.
Do I need civilian security licences?
Some roles and countries require individual licences or certification. Where needed, we guide you through the process and may support the required training as part of induction.
Can I work only in India?
Yes. Many assignments are in India. International work is available for those who hold the necessary permissions and wish to travel.
How long does selection take?
It depends mainly on how quickly documents and clearances can be verified. We keep you informed at every stage and never ask you to resign from other employment until an assignment is confirmed.
