Forged as Garud. Deployed for a safer world.

Garud Commando Force is an independent, veteran-led security organisation built around one exceptional talent pool: former Garud commandos — soldiers who were selected, trained and forged into special forces operators by the government that recruited them. If you hold every clearance your government requires, we place you in lawful, respected roles across the world as a security specialist, close protection officer, self-defence specialist and more.

Who We Are

360°Our protection doctrine:
Prevent · Protect · Respond · Recover

A second mission for the finest airborne warriors

Every year, highly trained special forces soldiers complete their service and step back into civilian life. They carry with them something no classroom can manufacture: years of disciplined preparation, the judgement that comes from operating under real pressure, and an instinct for protecting the people and places entrusted to them. Garud Commando Force exists so that this rare capability is not lost — and so that it continues to make the world safer, lawfully and honourably.

We recruit former Garud commandos who have left service in good standing and who hold every clearance, no-objection and permission required by the government that recruited and trained them. That condition is not a formality — it is the foundation of everything we do. Our members work strictly within the post-service guidelines issued by their own government, and within the laws of every country in which they are deployed.

Our clients range from corporations moving executives through complex environments to families that need discreet protection, from aviation operators to schools, hospitals and communities that want their people trained in practical self-defence. What they share is a need for security that is calm, professional and dependable — the kind that prevents incidents rather than merely reacting to them.

We are a private, veteran-led organisation that honours the Garud legacy by holding our people to its standard: fitness, discretion, integrity and relentless preparation. Read our story and leadership, or see how continuation training keeps every specialist mission-ready.

The Garud Standard

Selection earned. Standards kept.

The Garud Commando Force was raised by the Indian Air Force in 2004, after militant attacks on air bases in Jammu and Kashmir in 2001 exposed how vulnerable high-value aviation assets could be. Its purpose was specific: protect critical air force installations, conduct special operations in support of air power, and deliver combat search and rescue when aircrew are in harm's way.

That purpose shaped a particular kind of operator — one trained to secure perimeters, read threats early, move fast and stay composed. Those are precisely the qualities civilian security demands.

  • Physical and mental readiness verified before every deployment
  • Discretion as a professional reflex — never a marketing claim
  • Lawful, proportionate conduct under every jurisdiction
  • Continuous training, first aid and de-escalation certification

Capabilities

What our specialists deliver

Six disciplines, one operating philosophy: the best security outcome is the incident that never happens. Each capability is delivered by vetted ex-Garud personnel, supported by planning, intelligence and compliance teams. See the full service catalogue.

CAP / 01

Executive Close Protection

Discreet, intelligence-led protection for executives, dignitaries, high-net-worth families and public figures. Our protection officers plan routes, advance venues, manage residences and move principals through airports, conferences and unfamiliar cities with a minimal footprint and maximum awareness. Every detail is built on a written protection plan, a medical contingency and a communications protocol — so the principal experiences calm, not a show of force.

How a Garud veteran joins our force

Our recruitment model rests on a single principle: no one deploys with us unless their own government's post-service rules allow it. The four-stage pathway below protects the candidate, the client and the reputation of the uniform they once wore. Full details are on the Careers page.

  1. Verify Service

We confirm service history, discharge or retirement documentation and conduct record through official papers supplied by the candidate — never through classified channels.

  2. Confirm Clearance

Candidates provide the no-objection certificates, police verification, passport status and any permissions their government requires for private or overseas employment.

  3. Assess & Align

Fitness, medical, psychometric and scenario assessments determine the right discipline — close protection, instruction, aviation security, consultancy or crisis response.

  4. Deploy Lawfully

Assignments are matched to the licensing rules of each destination country, with permits, insurance and a clear code of conduct in place before any deployment begins.

The Case for Veterans

Why special-forces veterans change the security equation

Security is fundamentally a human discipline. Cameras record, barriers delay and alarms alert — but it is people who recognise that something is wrong, decide what to do and act in the critical seconds that follow. Studies of protective operations consistently find that serious incidents are usually preceded by observable warning signs: surveillance of a venue, unusual interest in a principal's movements, a vehicle that appears twice on the same route. The difference between an incident and a near-miss is usually whether someone trained was paying attention.

Special-forces veterans are trained to pay attention. The Garud curriculum, as described in public accounts, spans airfield defence, parachute and heliborne insertion, jungle and counter-insurgency warfare, close-quarter battle and combat first aid. Operators learn to plan meticulously, rehearse relentlessly, communicate precisely and stay composed when conditions deteriorate. Those habits transfer directly to executive protection, venue security and crisis management.

There is also a social argument. Military personnel typically retire far earlier than civilians — many in their late thirties or forties — with decades of productive working life ahead. Giving these veterans respected, well-structured second careers honours their service and keeps extraordinary skill in circulation rather than letting it fade.

What veterans need is a structure that respects the rules they still live under. That is what we provide: lawful assignments, transparent contracts, proper insurance and an organisation that never asks anyone to compromise their oath or their country's secrets.

Worldwide Reach

Wherever people need protecting

Global business, humanitarian work and international travel have spread risk across every continent. Organisations operating in unfamiliar environments need specialists who can assess threats quickly, adapt to local conditions and coordinate with local authorities. Our network supports assignments across six regions, each governed by its own licensing framework and cultural context.

Before any deployment, our compliance team maps the destination's private-security laws, weapons regulations, visa requirements and duty-of-care obligations. Where local law requires licensed local partners, we work through them — never around them.

The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.
Sun Tzu · The Art of War

Written more than two thousand years ago, this line captures the essence of modern protective work. The finest security operation is invisible: threats are identified early, routes are chosen wisely, vulnerabilities are closed before they are tested, and the people we protect simply go about their lives. Force is always the last resort — preparation is the first.
